Calls from 876 Area Code

The BBB reports numerous phone calls from area code 876 claiming you are the winner of a lottery and that the BBB was calling. Truth is:

· 876 area code JAMAICA is making scam calls.

· BBB’s aren’t involved with any lotteries and all international are illegal for US citizens to play anyway.

· Sending a “money gram or wire transfer” for $350 (or anything) to pay for stamps/tax/etc. in order to collect your $85,000 and a new car, “should be a red flag for anyone”.

“Using the BBB’s name or a government agency sounding name tends to trick people into thinking this could actually be real,” stated BBB President, Ken Vander Meeden. “Let’s pay attention, check out all offers at www.bbb.org and save us all from this obvious scam.”
